First Snow
The first snow fell as my family was coming in for Thanksgiving. They were thoroughly rattled by driving over the passes to get here from SeaTac, but I made ribollita soup and a full Thanksgiving dinner to make it worth their while!
Brap Brap
New sled! We got kind of wrecked in our hurry to take it out — 3 feet of snow on top of hidden logs and other sharks! Awesome just to be out.
The Big Storm
This storm was a generational tragedy. Homes, cars, roads, and trails were damaged so thoroughly that insurance is dropping our community en masse and, in lieu of a huge increase in USFS budget, recreating in the Cascades will be disrupted for the rest of my lifetime. We were out of power for a few days, which was scary as the house slowly got colder! Fortunately we had the fireplace and friends to make it through, and where there's a will there's a way for recreating.
